God works in mysterious ways…

My mom is so sweet. Last weekend, I got the following email from her:

Hi XXX:

Again, do not forget to pray to God and ask him for the things you wanted. I experienced the power of prayer and recently my prayer includes “God, please deliver to XXXX her ideal partner in life who fears God and will love and cherish my sweet XXXX next to God. He should be also the ideal husband as far as her dad is concern (if he passes dad’s standard, he should be the BEST for you — mabait (good-hearted), masipag (industrious), matiaga (patient) and matalino (smart) and of course guapo (good-looking) pa, Hahah, daya (that’s cheating), right?

Even if you are in bus doing nothing, talk to HIM and ask Him to choose your partner for you. Of course, He knows the best.

Love,
mom

===================================

It came at a most opportune time. At present, I’ve been worrying over the status of my love life (at most, it’s ambiguous), and if ever I’ll find the right guy for me. And then, I get this email from my mom, which appropriately addresses this concern. It’s really a wonder how God works in the most mysterious ways!

If you still don’t get it, it reminded me of the verse, Jeremiah 29:11, from the Bible (I’m a Christian btw): For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

It means that we try to live our life OUR way. We try to take charge and move our life in a way that we want. For example, I’ve been trying to grab the bull on the horns and trying to define the status of my relationship. And this issue has occupied my thoughts in the past couple of days…

But little did we know, God’s way is best. It may take some time and it requires patience, but He knows best for us. So we can worry all we want, but ultimately, it’s all in God’s hands. And if we can finally acknowledge that everything in our life (including our love life) is in God’s hands, we can already trust in Him and let go of ourselves. For God will never fail us. He loves us and wants the best for us.

It’s a struggle. It’s difficult to just let go and ask God to take control of our destiny. But it’s the best way to go… and I’d like to start doing that more often.

===================================

This entry is not to preach, but to share how confused I was (and still am a bit), but God has found a way through my mom to tell me that I shouldn’t really worry for He is in control.

If you do not believe in God, you can take it as fate: If it’s meant to be, it’s meant to be. Nothing you do will help make something that’s not destined to happen, happen. And if something’s fated to be, it will still happen even if you do nothing.

So leave it to fate then. No use to worry.

About Bonita

I'm a forgetful person. But I think a lot. Every day, a lot of thoughts enter my head. That's why this blog came to be: first, to keep my memories alive through the years, and two, to actually see how I and my thoughts have changed. Please note that I seldom draft or edit my posts. Sometimes, if I'm not careful, I offend some of you, my readers. And while I apologize for making you feel uncomfortable, I am not sorry for being honest or for making well-intentioned mistakes. I will however be the first to admit if I change my mind. Hence, do read and proceed with caution. My life is as colorful and as boring as you make it. I complain many days, but offer some encouragement in others. Life is fluid, it changes. So keep the positives and throw away the negatives, and I do hope that at the end of the day, you will enjoy reading the blog and leaving comments here and there if my posts touches you. Happy reading!
